Sausage Plait recipe Ingredients & QuantitiesFlaky Pastry - 220g of Plain Flour
- 70g of Margarine
- 100g of Lard
- 105ml of Water
Filling - 680g of Sausagemeat
- 1/4 dessert spoon of Mixed Herbs
- 1/2tsp of Tomato Puree
- 140g of Onions
Method- Prepare the flaky pastry the day before it is needed.
- Mix the herbs, onion, tomato puree and sausagemeat well together.
- Roll out the pastry in to a baking tray. Mark in to3 portions lengthways, making sure not to to cut through the pastry.
- Fill the centre portion with the sausagemeat mixture.
- Cut the pastry each side of the mixture in to 1" diagonal strips and plait over the top of the meat.
- Brush over with milk, bake in a hot oven for 20 minutes, then reduce the heat to 350F/180C for a further 30 minutes to cook mixture through.
- Garnish with thin slices of tomato.
